Students got into the spirit of things during Trick or Treat for Advice Week.

Building on the success of previous semesters, the Office of the First Year (OFY) has hosted a robust set of programs for the Class of 2022 this fall. Every Friday, we hold drop-in style events, dubbed “First Year Fridays.” Ranging in topics from course registration assistance to time management, we also partnered with Career Advising & Professional Development (CAPD) to offer students space to get advice and tips from upper-level students the week before the Fall Career Fair. We saw over 150 students for this particular event! In November, we’ll host our Major Exploration Month and have school-specific drop-in events every Friday from 11 am-1 pm.

Our annual Trick or Treat for Advice Week event took place October 22-31, where students visit various offices and answer trivia questions to collect stickers on a punch card. We hosted events in our office every day, including a faculty lunch with Professor Mike Short, two informational UROP events, and a de-stressing study break. Over 200 students participated in the events throughout the week, and we had nine new offices participate in our punch card activity. We ended the week with a Halloween Photo Booth – tons of students, faculty, and staff stopped by to take their photo!
