TLL Launches Two Workshop Series: MITeaches and Data Talks

This month, the Teaching and Learning Lab (TLL) is kicking off two workshop series that are open to anyone in the MIT community.

MITeaches image“MITeaches: Fostering Inclusion” is a series of workshops and activities that supports MIT faculty, instructors, and teaching assistants in teaching for equity and academic belonging. On Wednesday, August 28, TLL and the Institute Community Equity Office (ICEO) will be hosting Drs. Patricia Devine and Will Cox for their workshop, “Empowering People to Break the Bias Habit.” Devine and Cox are experts in the scientific study of stereotyping, prejudice, and intergroup relations, and they have developed the only intervention experimentally shown to produce long-term changes in bias. If you are interested in attending, you can register here.

“Data Talks” is an MIT-wide workshop series that aims to increase the capacity of staff who are charged with conducting analysis or evaluation. To launch the series on August 13, a panel of MIT staff responsible for administrative and survey data resources shared their roles and the data that they manage, discussed data they can make available to administrative analysts on campus, and answered common questions related to their data. Additional Data Talks workshop topics will be announced this fall. We welcome your suggestions for future topics; if you have ideas, please feel free to submit them!
