UROP Turns 50!
UROP, the Institute’s flagship experiential learning program, will be celebrating its 50th anniversary throughout the 2019-20 academic year. Created by the late Margaret MacVicar, the program launched in the fall of 1969 with 25 students; today more than 90% of undergraduates participate in faculty-mentored research across all disciplines.
The golden anniversary will be highlighted by various events throughout fall and spring, including panels and a poster session during October’s Family Weekend, as well as student luncheons and a faculty keynote in the spring. UROP will also be recognized at March’s MacVicar Day.
A video marking UROP’s milestone is in post-production and will be released to OVC colleagues and elsewhere in September.
