Announcing “Data Talks”: New workshop series for staff

I’m excited to let you know about a new workshop series for staff called “Data Talks”.

The launch event, “Discovering Administrative Data” is on Aug. 13, 1:00-2:30 pm in 2-190.

This series, designed for members of the MIT community who use data to inform decision-making and for those simply interested in learning more about the power of data, will cover topics such as the identification of available data resources, data collection, and the interpretation of findings.

A detailed schedule of upcoming workshops can be found on the Data Talks websiteYou can register to attend here.

This initiative stems from the work of the cross-functional data/survey team, launched by the OVC in August 2018.

The team includes representatives from the Teaching + Learning Lab, Institutional Research, Registrar’s Office, Admissions, MindHandHeart, Office of the Vice Chancellor, Division of Student Life, Career Advising & Professional Development, Office of the First Year, Office of Experiential Learning, and Student Financial Services.

If you have questions about the series, please contact the Data Talks team (datatalks@mit.edu).

I encourage you to attend the workshops and want to thank all of those who have worked so hard to put them together.

Sincerely,

Ian A. Waitz
Vice Chancellor for Undergraduate and Graduate Education and Jerome C. Hunsaker Professor of Aeronautics and Astronautics
