- MIT MyLife Services: Consult confidentially with a Master’s- and PhD-level counselor – by telephone, video, and message-based platforms (including text) – around how to manage stress and loneliness, and remain engaged in daily life during a crisis.

- Any employee or family member who has experienced a death or loss can contact KGA for immediate support, face-to-face or phone counseling, and/or referral to grief supports (e.g., support groups) in the community.

- As we find ourselves juggling work, family, isolation and uncertainty, KGA Employee Assistance Program invites you to The Daily Break! Each weekday until May 1st we will provide a stretch break (15-minutes) and a meditation session (10-minutes).
- Registration is free. Register each week by clicking on the times offered below. Participate as often as you’d like. Family members welcome.

MIT Staff Emergency Hardship Fund
- The MIT Staff Emergency Hardship Fund provides financial assistance to MIT staff and postdoctoral scholars (associates and fellows) who are experiencing an immediate, severe, and temporary financial hardship due to a sudden or non-recurring emergency (e.g., serious illness or injury, family crisis, natural disaster).

- Eligibility requirements:
- Be either an active full-time or part-time benefits-eligible MIT staff member or a postdoctoral scholar (associate or fellow);
- Be in good standing with the Institute, with no current disciplinary actions;
- Provide supporting documentation (e.g., lease, mortgage statement, bills, spouse/partner’s layoff notice, fire or police report, death certificate)
- Application Process:
- The applicant completes and submits the MIT Staff Emergency Hardship Fund application, providing supporting documentation (e.g., lease, mortgage statement, bills, spouse/partner’s layoff notice, fire or police report, death certificate) through a secure upload process. Applications will not be accepted without supporting documentation.
Beneficiaries—Are yours up to date?
- Please review and update your beneficiaries under the MIT Optional Life Insurance Plan, the MIT Basic Retirement Plan and the MIT Supplemental 401(k) Plan to ensure they are current.
- Note: If you are married and your most recent beneficiary designation on file for the MIT Retirement Plan does not designate your spouse as the sole primary beneficiary, and does not have spousal consent for this designation, your spouse will be beneficiary of 100% of your account balance.

- MIT Life Insurance Plans
- MIT provides the Basic Life Insurance Plan to all eligible employees with coverage up to $50,000. Enrollment is automatic, and MIT pays the full cost of Basic Life Insurance.
- In the event of your death, the MIT Basic Life Insurance policy pays the full amount of your coverage to your designated beneficiary in a single payment. Your beneficiary may be eligible to receive payments on an alternative schedule by contacting MetLife® at (800) 638-6420.
